'Dirty Sticky Floors'
1st single from "Paper Monsters"
Dave
Gahan releases his debut single Dirty Sticky Floors
May 19th on Mute Records. Produced by Ken Thomas (Sigur
Ros), and written by Dave Gahan and Knox Chandler, Dirty
Sticky Floors is an intoxicating glimpse of rocks
seamy underbelly.
The
single will be released on three formats: 2 CDs
and a DVD single. The CDs feature various remixes
including a dub and vocal mix by Junkie XL The DVD single
will feature the video directed Matt Skerritt.
On
Dirty Sticky Floors Dave gives vent to the
sleazy alter-ego he half-jokingly calls Evil Dave: Essex
Boy made good, he laughs.
The
track is one of eleven on the album Paper Monsters
released June 2nd on Mute. After 22 illustrious years
with Depeche Mode, Dave now makes his debut as a songwriter
with his musical accomplice Knox Chandler. The album was
recorded mostly in New York, in an open-ended, back to
basics way manner which Dave found both liberating and
exhilarating.
What
really hit me most was how happy and fulfilled it made
me feel, Dave says. I wanted to hear something
that made me feel good. Thats been the train of
thought throughout this record.
Dave
starts a 23 date European tour in Zurich on June 5th with
his band. The UK dates are:
June 29th GLASTONBURY
July 9th LONDON, Shepherds Bush Empire
July 10th LONDON, Shepherds Bush Empire
July 12th MANCHESTER, Move Festival
July 13th WOLVERHAMPTON, Civic Hall
